Out of curiosity - If you have a link from a PR[x] site but the link is on a page "not ranked by Google", then will this be counted as a link to the value of the homepage's PR, or classed as PR0? I realise a number of other factors affect this, but as a general rule? Any idea?

I'm wondering if Google now seek more links (or more quality links) to reach higher PR levels. I have one site (http://www.xosoftware.co.uk) with articles that were linked to from a PR9 site, and those articles went to PR2 almost immediately. Another site (http://www.gazoomy.com) has loads of links to it, some of a high PR, but it has remained at PR1. I really can't understand why so assume it's to do with something else such as lack of literal content on the main page or such like. Surely it should be PR2 or even PR3 by now.

This is complete nonsense. One PR7 link will not get you a PR5. That is just absolutely absurd as all these numbers are.

I've seen very similar figures elsewhere, with disclaimers that it is based on number of outbound links per page and similar themes. So looks like the figures could be right if similar numbers keep popping up (they aren't exactly the same, which means probably from different sources!).

I think they are calculated on each linking page having 20 outbound links. So if you find sites with 40 outbound links, double those numbers. Likewise, if the site / page is off topic, there is also less weight.

This is a very interesting chart, it would be good to experiment to see how accurate it is. Anyone can do it, PR 1 sites or PR 6 sites since the chart provides the number needed to get to the next level from all levels.

For what its worth, at least the chart serves as a guide or even a motivation factor.

Holy cow! to get a PR4 i'd need about 100 links from PR3 or 500 links from PR2 sites. How on earth could a human being get so many incomming links?

Andreas,
This is how I understand this chart.

if you want to get PR3 you need to have 555 pr1 inlinks, 101 pr2 inlinks, 19 pr3 inlinks, 4 pr4 inlinks and so on.
